Life as a Wife

So lately Ive been spending a lot of time (quality time) with my husband and I've really started to realize how much I love my life, more specifically, my life as Kyle's wife.

Before you're married the first question anyone asks you when the see you is "how is your wedding planning going?" And believe me with a 2 year engagement, I was TIRED of that question and wanted to chop the next person's head off who asked me that. But not even 24 hours after the wedding the questions switched to "How's married life treating you?"

That soon into married life I didnt really have much to say, besides thank god all of the planning is over. But lately I have actually came up with an answer.

Recently a complete stranger asked us "Hows married life?" We both kind of responded at the same time, "Good." The man stopped and looked at both of us and said, " Well if you want to be saying that 30 years from now, here's one piece of advice," he looked at Kyle and said,"Never stop dating her, she's the love of your life and you should date her as long as you can." I thought that was really sweet for him to say, especially being a complete and total stranger.

Kyle and I decided to take his advice, and have been going on little dates and devoting special time to eachother, and acting like we did when we started dating. And remarkably enough we have never been closer. We have always had a pretty tight bond, but we both were scared of getting into that settling down phase where our relationship would get blah. We now go on little dates now and then, make dinner togethor almost every night of the week, have long talks about life, not just work at the dinner table, and we have recently started devoting Sunday's to eachother. With us both working 40+ hour weeks, we dont have much time to spend doing everything togethor, so a few Sunday's back, Kyle suggested we make Sunday's "Our day" no matter what we do that day, whether its cleaning the house, going out, or bailing hay we do it togethor and it's our special day. I have loved this special time togethor, and find myself looking foward to Sunday's lately.

So now when someone asks, "How's married life?" I can have a legit answer, "It's wonderful, we date eachother more now than ever and are so happy!"

I love my life, as Kyle's wife.

Kyle & I have been very busy lately and have had a lot of new changes going on so I haven’t been out in the “blog” world for a while. Lately keeping up on all of the blog’s and vlog’s I read has kept me pretty busy on my lunch hour and haven’t had too much time to do my own blogging.

First in our new exciting news is my new job.

I landed a dream job at the University of Iowa and started work at the beginning of April, and I absolutely love it. My position is in the College of Public Health in the State Health Registry. I am an Editor for the Cancer Registry. My job is so diverse and so interesting and it is one that will require me to continuously keep learning, which is good for me because I am a very inquisitive person.

Here are some pics of my first day, note my office isn’t as plain now I made Kyle go up and help me hang pictures and things to decorate.

Another new change for us (well actually me again, haha) is that I finally upgraded out of the little black car! Kyle always promised me that he would get me a new car for graduating college. And with graduation just days away and me starting a new job that requires me to commute we took the plunge and bought a new car. I absolutely love it; it’s the perfect car for me. I have always wanted a white car, especially once I moved to gravel, I think white always looks so clean, and after driving a black car that always looked dirty and by the end didn’t really even have paint left I was just excited to get into a clean looking car. Kyle of course, did his research and found that Honda was a strong competitor in today’s auto world, and while he wanted me to get a small car, we compromised on a C-RV which has been a great choice for us, and even Kyle loves driving it. It is so handy to go get groceries in and is so nice to store things in the back end, I love it!

Here are a few pics of a 2011 Honda C-RV just like mine.

Around the farm we have also had some changes. We recently became the parents to 19 stinky chickens. Kyle has wanted chickens since we bought our farm and I’ve tried to distract that idea, but we finally agreed upon what kind to get and bought some from my dad at Orscheln. We got 16 barred rock chickens (because their black and white pattern resembles zebra printJ) and 3 rainbow chickens, which are supposed to lay colored eggs??? So well see, they won’t start laying until September but we are feeding them and they aren’t really babies anymore they are pretty much just big stinky chickens. Also around the farm, our goats are growing, growing, growing and it is so fun to just sit outside and watch them interact with one another they are so energetic at this age.

Here are a few farm animal pics from our farm.

In other news we have just finished up a very short weekend full of Easter events, and are trying to get our yard cleaned up from the winter crud so we can start planting flowers and doing some landscaping. This weekend we are going to watch my sister and her boyfriend at Grand March for their prom on Saturday night, so excited, her dress is beautiful and so unique can’t wait to see her. I will try and post pics of her shortly, and take care.
