Wrapping up 2011

So I haven't been a very good girl and spent any time keeping up on blogging lately :( Sorry. We have just been very busy and when we do get time at home Ky loves to be a computer hog. Thankfully I have had the day off today and he has some things to do in the shop tonight, so I can sit down and get to it. So hold on and get yourself a comfy seat (and maybe even a snack-haha) because this is going to be a long one!

Where to start blogging???

OCTOBER

-Pageant Weekend-
The beginning of October is the Miss Iowa USA Pageant. This years pageant was held in Newton, Iowa, which Ill have to say was not as fun as Ames. Newton to me was just not as exciting of a town and the facilities weren't as nice either. But we did still manage to have a lot of fun and of course loved watching all of the beautiful girls compete. Ash did great again this year and she made all of us who mede the trip up to see her so proud. Its so neat to see her in that environment, she really comes out of her shell at these things and I could not have been more proud. We went up on Friday, so we could have some time to run to Des Moines early Saturday and shop, well I shopped with my cousin Jami while Dad & Kyle ventured off to a Honda dealership to scope out 4-wheelers. Then the pageant was Saturday night (preliminaries) and Sunday night (finals). Ashley did great and looked absolutely stunning!!! A big thanks to Traci and Kristen--best hair dressers ever at New Attitude!!!

Ash, Jami & I after the pageant.

-Mall of America Trip-
Then the next weekend a couple of girls I work with and Ash & I ventured up to Minneapolis for a weekend at the Mall of America. It was such a fun weekend, but boy was it a workout! That mall is huge! So many stores & of course we didnt want to miss a single one, so 14 hours later we finally tackled the entire mall. 4 stories of shopping, good food, and just about something for everyone! We drove up on Friday night, shopped IKEA that night, then spent all day Saturday at the mall, and came home Sunday. I had so much fun! I got some really neat gifts for Christmas and of course did some shopping for myself as well. The mall has a Nordstrom with tons of makeup counters, an entire MAC store, and a Sephora so I was in heaven. I treated myself to some makeup but also got some neat things un-beauty related.

Ash & I at dinner at the MOA.

My new favorite perfume, one of the beauty products I treated myself to.

Neat faabric I found at IKEA, that Jane made into curtains for my kitchen.

NOVEMBER

-Craft Sale-
November was equally busy for us. The first weekend Jane and I went to a huge craft sale in Coralville. There were tons of neat things and over 200 vendors. We spent the morning there, did lunch and then went shopping. I had alot of fun, and really enjoyed my mother-in-law/daughter-in-law time. While at the craft sale I kept seeing everyone walking around with these big barn ladders and was kind of making a joke to Jane about how wierd they were & then what do you know I come home with one. I love it and when I got to the display & saw how the lady had them decorated I had to have one.

How I have it displayed right now at home, love the rustic look of it! Mirror was a Christmas gift from a friend, as was the neat Janecek sign from my sister!

-Anniversary Weekend-
And then a couple weeks later it was time to celebrate our 1 year anniversary already! Wow how time flies. It was a wonderful weekend! We had got a gift card to the casino in Riverside as a wedding gift (Thanks, Kel) and saved it for our anniversary weekend. They say the first year is one of the hardest, and we made it! We had a pretty amazing first year as husband and wife, and pray for many more happy years togethor!

DECEMBER

-Christmas Decor-
Now December is here (and almost gone). November/December is my favorite time of year! I love decorating my house for the holidays and love just about everything holiday inspired! I have some good scents burning in my scentsy right now too. But my favorite for this time of year is Embers-love it! Another thing I have been loving is a Christmas gift I got a few weeks before Christmas actually. It was kind of a Christmas present to myself, I had thoguht it was going to be from Ky, but then he suprised me on Chrismas with another gift so I guess this one was just from me to me! If you remember in my past blog I showed you the NAKED pallet, well Urban Decay just released the sequel, NAKED2!!!!!! It was release a couple weeks ago and with only 5000 available the first day it sold out within the first 2 1/2 hours. The crazy makeup lover in me got it that day! I LOVE IT!!! Since then they have had a couple more shipment dates, but those have sold out as well, so keep checking if you are interested it, according to Urban Decay it should be more readily available after the first of the year.

My new love!

I also snapped a few pics of my Christmas decor before I took it down today!

Now I am trying to get some things done tonight around the house, before it's back to work tomorrow, but only 3 days this week then another long holiday weekend! We have 2 more Christmas celebrations, one this weekend and one in mid-January so we are still in the holiday spirit! I will leave you with a picture of my sister and I from the Lighted Christmas parade, and some of my current loves!

Fall Update

Loooooooong time no blog! I cant believe how fast time goes, I really hope I get more time to blog more than once per season! We have been really busy and it seems like every weekend from now until Thanksgiving we have something on our calendar.

I just wanted to blog quick with a quick update on us and I will try to post a couple of blogs over the next few weeks as we have some fun things planned.

Update #1: Jessica Janecek, RHIT

At the end of august I took my credentialing exam, which was a tough tough exam. I studied my little heart out and almost made myself sick studying, but finally all my hard work paid off and I PASSED!!!!! The exam was 3 hours, and what seemed like a million questions long. After the exam is over the lady handed me a little sheet of paper that held the results. Kyle had brought me up to take the exam and waited patiently in the car while I took it, so I grabbed the paper, folded it in half and sprinted to the car. I handed Ky the paper and told him he had to tell me my results. Thinking about it now, that was probably alot to put on him, if I hadnt passed, but oh well thats what husbands are for right?!?! He gave me a little suspense once he had read the results himself, but ultimately told me the good news! SO SO happy to be done with everything and now I can just focus and put all of that enercy into my work!

Update #2: Bailing season is OVER!!!

Thats really all that needs to be said, the dreadfulness of all of the bailing we did this summer is over!!! I dont have to ride a rack or help with anything involved with that for atleast 6 months and I am soooo thankful its fall!!!

Update #3: Animals

The critters are doing great! Goats are about ready to move back home from the pasture for the winter, sheep are growing, chickens are producing tons of eggs, and the dogs are ornery as ever!

Chickens are really growing!

Lady loving the cooler weather

Update #4: Birthday Weekend

I celebrated my golden birthday on the 22nd of last month, and Ky went all out this year. I had a great first birthday as a married woman, he suprised me with some great gifts on the day of my birthday, but then the big suprise was a shopping spree at Ulta the day after, and I was like a kid in a candy store. Ky patiently waited in the car while I shopped for nearly an hour, which was pretty fast considering! But I did get some great things!!!
Here are some of my favorites I got!

Urban Decay Naked Pallet, great eye shaddow pallet with alot of key colors to alot of great looks.

Ulta Professional Nail Lacquer in twilight, beautiflul color and great sparkle for fall!

Update #5: Crops are OUT

My in-laws got their crops out this weekend, and Ky and I had so much fun helping with the harvest! I love love love this time of year, and love seeing combines in the field.

Ky picking corn by our house.

Some other tings Ive been loving lately:

Fall decor, I love this great flower arrangement that soo reminds me of fall!

I got this neat arrangement at Gordmans a few months ago and thought it would be great for fall, it just reminds me of a harvest cornfield, with all of the dried out leaves and fall colors!

My fall table arrangement! I found the bowl at Stuff Etc for $2 and got the placemats at Wal-Mart last fall for $1 each on clearance, sooo cheap and so cute!

My new star outside our door, I love these stars, and had a small one I got in a garden center once, but have always wanted a BIG one in the same burgandy color I had. I found this one at Gordmans a few weeks ago, and couldnt pass it up! It's huge and only $15.00!!!

Here's another star I have hanging in our front entryway that I love, the pattern is so neat, and this was another Stuff Etc. steal!

Another fall favorite for me this year is a scent!!! I have scentsy burners all over my house, and love filling the house with wonderful scents! I love many of the Scentsy scents, but recently discovered this one from a co-worker of mine, and you can get it at Wal-Mart for $2.

We are busy trying to get stuff done around the house and outside before it starts to get really cold and before our schedules get even busier this fall, so I will do my best to keep posting quick blogs when I get time! I will leave you with a couple pictures of some beautiful scenery from my front yard, even without rain for months now, everything seems to still be beautiful!

Holy Hot Mamma!

Hot Mamma!!! Its been hot out, so excited to see some rain in the forcast for this week. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a cold weather girl, this warm sticky weather is not exactly my cup of tea.

We have been keeping busy this month, can hardly believe tomrorow is August 1st?? Where has the summer gone? There has been lots going on with the weather being so warm. We've enjoyed a couple bar-b-q's with friends, the fourth fireworks, a couple trips to Mt. Hamill, and even made it to the fair one night (but sadly got rained out, before we got a chance to watch my brother-in-law Danny race).

This last weekend we traveled north for a wedding of our friends. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Johnson!!! The wedding was beautiful, as was the bride.

Here are a couple pics of us before heading out from the hotel to the wedding.

On our way back from the wedding we ran a few errands in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City and I discovered a very exciting, but scary place for my husbands wallet, ULTA!!! I never knew there was an Ulta in Cedar Rapids, I have been collaborating lists for the next time we make it to Sephora in Des Moines, which probably wont be until October, so finding an Ulta only an hour wway will do just fine.

I checked a few things off my list at Ulta without shocking Kyles wallet too bad. One of my favorite things I treated myself to is my new favorite nail polish. I have read about Butter London nail polishes on many beauty blogs I read for a while now and have been dying to try one, so while at Ulta I picked up a bottle of one of the more popular colors, All hail the queen. It is truely butter-like so smooth and creamy, I absolutely love it. I also picked up a few other favorites and then sadly had to leave and head to Gander Mountain & Scheels with the hubs. (However I think I could have spent all day at Ulta :P) It was so nice just to get away for the weekend and relax and sleep in without worrying about cleaning the house or doing things around the farm. Ahhh relaxation......

So now this weekend I was back at laundry and housework, fun fun. We did manage to squeeze in a trip to Mt. Hamill last night, which was delicious! And I got another wild hair this weekend and rearranged our house, again :) I switched our dining room into our living room, and our living room into our bedroom, so that we can have a little more room on the main floor, and it leaves a room open on the main floor for when we decide to have a little one someday. We never used our dining room because our kitchen is so big, so it was a wasted space. The nice part about our house is that the roomms are so big and all have nice big pocket doors, so they can be so versitle and I can change my mind as much as I want, but I think this is a really good fit for us at this point.

Well I better head, were about ready to call it a night and go to bed early tonight, starting another work week tomorrow and need some beauty rest!

Night, Jess

Summertime :)

Hello all-

Long time no blog. Ky & I have been very busy lately & in my free time I have had no desire to be on the computer now that I deal with them 80% of my life. But I decided we had some news big enough to blog about.
Kyle has decided to peruse a new career. He has loved his job at Premier & has loved working so close to home, however this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. He stars his new job at the County tomorrow. He has always had high hopes of working for the county & finally had got the opportunity to do so. We both could not be more satisfied with where our lives are going and with the outcomes of our careers. We know we have the love and encouragement of our families and the grace of god to thank for that.

June has been pretty lack for us. We've kept busy around the farm, inside and out. The goats are doing well, almost time to sell the babies :( Our chickens are huge now, I could sit outside & watch them all day long. We even have a couple roosters starting to crow. I'm so thankful we live in the country or else I'm sure people would think I'm clinically insane. When I hear the roosters crow Ill crow back and the rooster and I could go at it for hours. As for Lady and Turbo, they're good too, full of energy and loving the warm weather.

Ive been busy remodeling our master bedroom, painting and tearing up carpet & I'm really loving how its all coming together.

We've got one cutting of hay done, and of course on the HOTTEST day of the year so far, but its bringing good money at the sale barn so I guess its worth it. Kyle has hopes of squaring some alfalfa this weekend, so I'm sure hoping it rains, ha ha :)

Last weekend we spend fathers day with all of the "dads" in our life. I planned a little trip to the Amana's for both of our dads and all of the grandpas in our life. It was a really nice day, and the brunch was wonderful. If you have never been to the Ox Yolk Inn in Amana, I would highly recommend it. Great food in family style atmosphere.

We hope everyone is enjoying all of the great things summer has to offer. We have been loving grilling out (which Ky claims is not a correct statement---ongoing argument, long story!) and the strawberries we have been getting at the grocery store have been pretty amazing. Cant wait for the market to open and for fresh sweet corn, tomatoes, and watermelon.

We watched a really good movie the other night, Just Go With It starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. I would highly recommend this movie, its a comedy with a great love story to it. Great movie!

As for July we have a few things planned, it seems like July always flies by. We have a wedding up in northern Iowa towards the end of the month and a couple other exciting things planned.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and enjoying the sunshine when the rain decides to take a break:)

Ashley's Prom

As promised I took pictures of Ashley at prom yesterday. What was supposed to be a rainy nasty day turned into a pretty perfect day for prom, a little rain in the morning then nice and sunny all afternoon, and not so hot that we all sweated our butts off in that hs gym. Ashley looked stunning, her dress was so unique and her hair was gorgous (Good job Nat!!!) Ok, enough Blah Blah Blah, here are some pics!

Beautiful isnt she? Well I better get off the computer and get something done today, we have easter with the Janecek's this afternoon and then we're planning to work outside some and go get groceries. Hope everyone has a great Sunday! Take Care :)

Life as a Wife

So lately Ive been spending a lot of time (quality time) with my husband and I've really started to realize how much I love my life, more specifically, my life as Kyle's wife.

Before you're married the first question anyone asks you when the see you is "how is your wedding planning going?" And believe me with a 2 year engagement, I was TIRED of that question and wanted to chop the next person's head off who asked me that. But not even 24 hours after the wedding the questions switched to "How's married life treating you?"

That soon into married life I didnt really have much to say, besides thank god all of the planning is over. But lately I have actually came up with an answer.

Recently a complete stranger asked us "Hows married life?" We both kind of responded at the same time, "Good." The man stopped and looked at both of us and said, " Well if you want to be saying that 30 years from now, here's one piece of advice," he looked at Kyle and said,"Never stop dating her, she's the love of your life and you should date her as long as you can." I thought that was really sweet for him to say, especially being a complete and total stranger.

Kyle and I decided to take his advice, and have been going on little dates and devoting special time to eachother, and acting like we did when we started dating. And remarkably enough we have never been closer. We have always had a pretty tight bond, but we both were scared of getting into that settling down phase where our relationship would get blah. We now go on little dates now and then, make dinner togethor almost every night of the week, have long talks about life, not just work at the dinner table, and we have recently started devoting Sunday's to eachother. With us both working 40+ hour weeks, we dont have much time to spend doing everything togethor, so a few Sunday's back, Kyle suggested we make Sunday's "Our day" no matter what we do that day, whether its cleaning the house, going out, or bailing hay we do it togethor and it's our special day. I have loved this special time togethor, and find myself looking foward to Sunday's lately.

So now when someone asks, "How's married life?" I can have a legit answer, "It's wonderful, we date eachother more now than ever and are so happy!"

I love my life, as Kyle's wife.

Jess

(P.S. thanks to the angel God sent us in the form of a car dealer employee, that gave us such good advice!)

Kyle & I have been very busy lately and have had a lot of new changes going on so I haven’t been out in the “blog” world for a while. Lately keeping up on all of the blog’s and vlog’s I read has kept me pretty busy on my lunch hour and haven’t had too much time to do my own blogging.

First in our new exciting news is my new job.

I landed a dream job at the University of Iowa and started work at the beginning of April, and I absolutely love it. My position is in the College of Public Health in the State Health Registry. I am an Editor for the Cancer Registry. My job is so diverse and so interesting and it is one that will require me to continuously keep learning, which is good for me because I am a very inquisitive person.

Here are some pics of my first day, note my office isn’t as plain now I made Kyle go up and help me hang pictures and things to decorate.

Another new change for us (well actually me again, haha) is that I finally upgraded out of the little black car! Kyle always promised me that he would get me a new car for graduating college. And with graduation just days away and me starting a new job that requires me to commute we took the plunge and bought a new car. I absolutely love it; it’s the perfect car for me. I have always wanted a white car, especially once I moved to gravel, I think white always looks so clean, and after driving a black car that always looked dirty and by the end didn’t really even have paint left I was just excited to get into a clean looking car. Kyle of course, did his research and found that Honda was a strong competitor in today’s auto world, and while he wanted me to get a small car, we compromised on a C-RV which has been a great choice for us, and even Kyle loves driving it. It is so handy to go get groceries in and is so nice to store things in the back end, I love it!

Here are a few pics of a 2011 Honda C-RV just like mine.

Around the farm we have also had some changes. We recently became the parents to 19 stinky chickens. Kyle has wanted chickens since we bought our farm and I’ve tried to distract that idea, but we finally agreed upon what kind to get and bought some from my dad at Orscheln. We got 16 barred rock chickens (because their black and white pattern resembles zebra printJ) and 3 rainbow chickens, which are supposed to lay colored eggs??? So well see, they won’t start laying until September but we are feeding them and they aren’t really babies anymore they are pretty much just big stinky chickens. Also around the farm, our goats are growing, growing, growing and it is so fun to just sit outside and watch them interact with one another they are so energetic at this age.

Here are a few farm animal pics from our farm.

In other news we have just finished up a very short weekend full of Easter events, and are trying to get our yard cleaned up from the winter crud so we can start planting flowers and doing some landscaping. This weekend we are going to watch my sister and her boyfriend at Grand March for their prom on Saturday night, so excited, her dress is beautiful and so unique can’t wait to see her. I will try and post pics of her shortly, and take care.

Employee Spotlight

The company Kyle works for, Premier 1 Supplies, does a monthly newsletter and for the Feb/March edition Ky was chosen to be the Employee Spotlight! The news letter is very interesting, and such a neat idea! Here is the section of the newsletter with Ky's article!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Kyle Janecek

Premier's featured employee this month is Kyle Janecek. Kyle and his wife Jessica (recently married in November) live in rural Washington. They have 2 dogs, a mixed breed named Lady and Turbo, a red tick coon hound. When not at Premier, Kyle enjoys farming, raising goats, tinkering in his shop, snow mobiling and diesel trucks.

Kyle has been with Premier for 1 year now and is a 'Jack of all trades'. He works predominately in shipping but also helps in the sharpening and repair departments as well as outside with the livestock. His favorite part of the job is that he's always doing something different which keeps him on his toes. He enjoys the variety of duties as well as the fact that Premier is close to home.

This is a really neat article to read as well, so I thought I'd share the link to the website!

Babies

We have 15 goats of which 10 were pregnant going into this year. We have 8 of those mamas in where its warm right now. Of those 8, 4 have kidded and 4 are still pregnant. We have 3 sets of twins and 1 single in that barn. Then we also have one mama and single baby back at the barn behind our house, making for a total of 8 babies so far!!! We got up through the night and went out and checked on them, and I have been on nurses duty throughout the day today! I took some pictures this morning while we were on one our early morning chores!
All snuggled up snoozing.

Some cute little sweaters Ky bought for them..they stay nice and toasty under there, but Jane is going to make us some with a little more snazy material!

Me with my favorite little girl, she has such a neat fur design, all chocolate brown with a white stripe down her head.

Ky helping that little fella get the hang of this nursing thing.

This little guy knows what hes doing, this is one of the most recent babies born and hes doing the best!

Their fur is so neat at this age...kind of curly and crinkly.

Snuggling with mom.

This one has to be next to kid, shes huge...maybe tripletts?

I also found these on my camera while importing these goat pics and had to share. Here is my sweet, sweet girl Kylie. I played mommy a few saturdays ago while Ky helped her mom and dad move her grandma and grandpa. Shes my little buddy!

Well back out to chore the goats again here soon. Were hoping for a warm up this whole choring in the middle of the night with these negative lows is not too fun. This morning Ky had to pry me out of bed it was sooo warm. Take care everyone XOXO.
